Tulips!

We took an amazing day trip last weekend to a little Dutch town called Pella Iowa for the Tulip Festival while the boys were studying. We met up with my sister in law Tif and her husband Ai and their family for the day. It was a beautiful day and the town was adorable. With all the people walking down the street I really felt like I was in another country. We waited in line for 20 minutes to get a delicious dutch letter, ran around the tulips and a cool wooden park, we watched a day parade and a night light parade and had a great time visiting. want to see some pictures? ok but just a few :)

This cute little boy walked right over to max to give him some candy! it was such a sweet priceless moment!

Celebrating a life.

Tomorrow is my Grandmothers Birthday, but last month we celebrated her birth and life at a funeral. They are the worst really, but at the same time celebrating the life of someone brings a lot of peace. Gathering with family, looking through pictures, seeing old friends. Grandma lived an incredibly energetic, full and eventful life, and I am Grateful to know that God has an Eternal plan for families so that we can be together forever.
Isn't she the most beautiful woman!

The whole family at the coolest cemetery/church/museum ever
Grandma and Grandpa are such an example to me of adoration, sacrifice, laughter and loyalty in a marriage. Aren't they adorable.
Max and Grandma have always been kindred spirits, they are both serious jokesters. Grandma made every event crazier or funnier so max thought it was his responsibility to make the whole day a little more cheery. He tried to throw her chocolate into the vault.. and steal flowers off the top :) oops!

Max loves his Grandma and Grandpa Chris

Before we left we spent the days with Grandpa visiting and going to our favorite places- Santa Monica Pier. Max loved it and it was a great relaxing day to spend with grandpa.

I promise he was having fun!

Max was very skeptical of the beach and the sand.

 We love you Grandpa!

We couldn't leave without a grandma christ tradition. she always made us line up tallest to shortest in this very same spot before we left after each trip.. the heights have gotten very confused in the last few years...but grandma would have loved it. We miss you Grams and we love you! Thank you for raising my amazing Daddy :)
