Frustration

I am really sorry, I just have to get it out, and I feel like a Facebook post would be counter productive, and sound a bit immature.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints.
and I LOVE IT!

I go to Brigham Young University- set up to help member of my church and others learn in a positive and spiritual environment
and I LOVE IT!

I don't care if you go to BYU, or not, I don't care who your cheer for on game day, I don't care if you were too smart or too lazy for BYU. but I do care when people bash on my school for having high expectation and trying their best to provide a quality education.

It doesn't make sense. If you think its bad to have rules, you missed out on a big lesson on life, if you think that being strict is a problem then submit yourself to a life with less discipline. but because I go to a school that has discipline and maybe some pretty specific rules don't make me feel like that somehow makes me or my school mates less of a person.

Finally the thing that irks me the most. When people who also belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints mock me or BYU because it is so stupid that they MAKE us dress modestly and MAKE us take religious classes. I have been made fun of numerous times simply because i committed to always live my Gospel standards while i attend school before i started school and for some reason people think that that is stupid. even when it is the same standards that they are expected to uphold by having a temple recommend anyways! BYU is a great institution, everyone does there best just like at any other school. I will never be ashamed of my school that has taught me so much both in worldly and spiritual education.

Please stop mocking me for committing to standards you should be living too.

I know this behavior doesn't really apply to anyone that ever reads this blog but, it feels good to express it without causing some sort of scene :)

I have no idea what happened

December. Gone
January. Gone
where did the time go!
I really don't know how i let it happen, well finals in December, that makes sense, and january, fighting the fact that i really had to go back to school. but here it is february!

Just a few updates, Mr. Marshall officially decided on a school and in July we will be moving to....
Thats right Kirksville Missouri, just like i thought, It really is a sweet town and we think it will be perfect for us. we are very excited, and i also got my darling little house that i blogged about a while ago, it will be perfect too! now all we have to do is wait till July so we get make our first big move into our first real house! sometimes its all i think about, i have a lot of hopes and dreams for this little adventure, i've always wanted to live in a small town and I just keep thinking that this will be perfect because its only 2 years, and then we can try something new if we don't like it, and it will keep marshall focused because there isn't much to do.. but its darling.

Next up marshall and i started our last semester at BYU! its crazy how time has flown by! it feels like just yesterday me and Nique were helping each other move into our freshman dorms.
Now they have torn down most of Heritage Halls for some new fancy ones. Its kind of sad to see things change so much, we don't even live in provo anymore. I feel so grown up and yet still so much like that freshman girl. However it is really wonderful to be going to school now with the best man in the world and to get to spend my nights sitting at the foot of our bed laughing with him instead of 6 girls. but they were great times in the dorms.

I try to tell myself to slow down and enjoy it, when i walk around campus thats easy but when i remember all of the assignments and tests and reading.. i didn't do i am just ready to be in kirksville. its a hard balance to find. it really is.

speaking of balance i just have one thing to say. yesterday, i spent a good hour studying and eating my kids meal at the old creamery on ninth. as i sat there 3 middle aged  men sat in the booth next to me  and i listened to them talk for literally 45 minutes while i pretended to study about women in their ward and their wives in such a negative way because they claimed their wives cared too much about blogging or their own jobs and crafts and cooking to do their cleaning or take care of their kids. and it made me sick.
I feel grateful to have a husband that would never say a single mean or negative thing about me or my family life. I feel grateful that he appreciates all the things that i do. i just wanted to turn around and scold them. Their wives have feelings and hopes just like they do. and yes, some women may take some things to an extreme, i think most women genuinely value their family and relationship more than any other aspect in their lives.
There just needs to be balance.
And if i can ever give any advice, never speak ill of your family, ever, to anyone. You will be all the happier and wiser for it.

First things first

How many people believe the saying that when you put the first things first everything important will  fall into place and everything unimportant will fall out of place, but what if you want to keep the unimportant things around. Well Im testing it out this week, and I will let you know how it goes.

Friday Night

I guess this is good practice for the next for years of my life, but i am sitting here waiting for my sweet husband to finish his Bio Chem test. don't worry yes is is almost 9:00pm! what can i say we are party animals! its a good thing we have a killer saturday lined up! sleeping in ( for the first time all semester- im being serious!) running, visiting teaching, finally getting to H&M for some SHOPPING! then off to the Courage to Hope banquet and last but not least we'll top it all with box seats with the president for the BYU game ( president of BYU just so you know not, obama). I love spending time with the family at football games, I feel sad already to think that this will be our last BYU football game we'll go to for a few years.. it was such a good streak. We feel really luck, that we got another chance to sit in the box - we missed our shot last year with service council and Casey gave us another chance, i'm excited for some good time with friends and LaLa who i never see anymore!

Oh i almost forgot, i know i am crazy but it is getting close to decision time, Marshall has to let all the schools know and we have to put money down by Dec. 1 so naturally i have been checking out places to live, i think it is important that where we live in med school is a good relaxing place for Marsh, and also somewhere i will like enough to want to stay home and cook and clean and raise babies in. This is a big deal. here is what i found so far.. this one is in Kirksville, which i will just say, is where we are leaning towards the most right now... shhh
I think it has character.. its 2 bedrooms for $475 ( kirskville is so inexpensive!) but is $900 square feet too small? marshall was just excited it has a dishwasher :)

I think it has character! wouldn't a porch swing be so fun! don't  mind the Giant branch and for sale sign! i love it!

                                                                       Kitchen
There is is, the potential future Hill residence!

Birthday Wishes

I started this post quite a while ago and figured I should probably post it! Better late than never!
It was Husbands birthday in October. Everyday i realize how very lucky i am! it is so nice waking up 14 months after your wedding and still feeling like you scored the greatest person that has ever lived!
This year, for my perfect husband i tried to throw him, the perfect party.
marshall has a lot of amazing friends. and he loves to golf, so what did we do?
Have all his friends over for a golfing extravaganza!

He started off the morning going out golfing with his brothers, a golf trip he has been longing to have for such a long time!
Then he came home to a party- well actually he took an hour nap upstairs while i finished setting up :)
We started out at the Hill Country club golf course AkA the back yard pasture! there were 6 holes and we divided up into teams. Thanks Julie and Fern for helping me set up all the holes!
we had a dinner with all golf themed food like Chip shots, Peanut Putter sandwhiches "Par" faits, and more!
Prizes- the gold cup was awarded and then we just hung out! it was a fantastic night!
I love having a husband to celebrate.

Highlights/lowlights of the night
* i lit Ms candles on the cake that in turn lit his paper golf hole flag on fire and got a little charcoal all over the cake.
* Chel and Zack where playing around with a Champaign glass and shattered it all over the table
* best out fit was for sure Jenessa and Brodys baby Alydia came dressed as a bag of golf clubs! you can sort of see it in the picture it is the cutest baby costume i have ever seen! Props to Jenessa for making the whole thing!
* just being with all our favorite people and celebrating the sweetest boy on his birthday!

well that is Marshalls birthday party-  thanks to everyone who made it possible! the next day we had all the nieces and nephews over and did it all again! i wish i had more pictures!
After his birthday we ended up with a crazy week of school, but halfway through the week we got a fun little suprise,
My teacher canceled my test that had been keeping me from going to marshalls last med school interview with him! so what did Mr. Marshall do? hopped right on the internet and bought me a very price inflated plane ticket to go with him the next morning!
It was the greatest adventure of a weekend in..... get this........Kirksville Missouri! Never heard of it? neither had we!

Ill tell you the whole story very soon.

The very best things!

It is the very best thing to have love.
for your perfect Husband
for your family
for the Gospel
for life!
I am so grateful to have the husband that I do. Nights like last night, where we stay up till all hours of the night even though we have to wake up so early , and we just laugh and laugh until our stomachs ached. And the greatest thing was we were laughing at nothing. it was nothing clever or witty or ridiculous just pure joyful laughter.
It was a great way to end a great weekend, of BYU football, Regional conference ( an amazing talk by Elder Bednar! no teleprompter or anything) Studying, Captain America with friends and a Spooky halloween dinner. Mom and Dad are so nice to us and bought Mr. Marshall a new wallet because he gave his to tom and has been using a little zip lock baggy to carry around all his credit cards for the last two weeks!

For anyone that wondered, it is quite the adventure driving to Provo every morning and coming home late at night, but we love it. We LOVE our new friends in Sandy and we still get to time to play with friends in Provo. But the best part about the commute- is the actual commute! in the Mornings i do my makeup, while marshall drives and then read aloud our scripture study ( which is great because it keeps me awake) Then we write down our favorite part from our reading that day and use it as our theme scripture for the day. Then we put it on a 3x5 card and add to is our 5 most important priorities to get done that day. and finally we write how we are going to show love to each other through out the day.
It is becoming a really helpful fun and happy tradition!
Goals are so good for us, we function so much better! we have even added a walking goal that we keep track of on our Pedometers. it is actually more of a competition.. i walked more on saturday but marshall walked more yesterday.. who will win today...

we are excited for a fun FHE with Jess and Josh carving pumpkins!

quick trip!

We loved spending the weekend in Yellowstone with the family at the Hill Cabin! Thanks Fern and Allen for letting us go! And thank you mom and dad for taking us on a much needed vacation! We just relaxed and played around all day! Relaxing time with the family is the best for sure!  we loved it. It was so fun to be at the cabin together! This summer it got a whole new make over and looks amazing!  and just being outside up there and smelling the trees was so wonderful! The weather was even nice! anyone that hasn't ever been to yellowstone.. it is a must! Here are some of the fun pics we took! ( dad tried to teach me and joy a little bit more about photography this trip.. it was quite exciting!)
